Sara-Duterte Carpio is running for Vice President in the 2022 elections after withdrawing her Mayoral Candidacy in Davao City, Sara went to Commission on Elections headquarters on Saturday, November 13, 2021, to substitute "Lakas-CMD" National Party’s – Lyle Uy.

Sara filed the Certificate of Candidacy through her representative, Atty. Reynold Munsayac, two days before the deadline for substitution of election aspirants on November 15, 2021, according to the Commission on Elections.
The bid comes after the withdrawal of her candidacy for reelection for Davao City Mayor, with her brother Sebastian who will no longer run as vice mayor, instead, he will be replacing his sister.
The next day of withdrawal, Sarah resigned from the regional party "Hugpong ng Pagbabago", and then joined the national party "Lakas-CMD" to compete for the national elections in 2022.
